BBN CORP (BBN) 21 +1. Issue continues to push forward, today being escorted by Alex. Brown's strong comments about the company. Brokerage firm is extremely bullish on these shares, demonstrated by its issuing of a $40 price target and an initial rating of "strong buy". Stock's $48.75O demonstrates that market at one time believed that company had potential to be the "EDS of the Internet", as Alex. Brown currently believes.
Investment community becoming more positive on shares after company posted a 4th qtr 45.2% revenue increase on Thursday, despite widening its loss to $0.62 a share from $0.37 in the year-prior; also missed loss estimates of $0.49. Stock is up over 10% since that earnings report. And though positive earnings do not appear likely in near-future, the market is currently rewarding company for its investment in infrastructure, stronger focus on its Internet business, and developing strategic alliances and contracts. Currently it is hard
to imagine stock reaching Alex. Brown's $40 price target over the next year, though stock
should easily provide a 30%-40% return from its current level. It is questionable whether or
not company will become Internet leader, but that does hamper investor opportunity to make strong intermediate-term profits from the stock.
