After Secret History met wish such acclaim, everyone awaited Tartt's next novel eagerly-- and waited and waited. It took her ten years before she finally published The Little Friend, a Southern Gothic novel about Mississippi mid 20c, which is where Tartt was raised. She is a slow writer, and apparently has no urge to market herself, or become prolific.
Tartt herself is a fascinating character.
I'd be interested in your reaction to Little Friend; I thought it was a totally different kind of read, though still every bit as well written.
