If we had a federal government that provided only the enumerated powers it we could eliminate the deficit in a very short time.

The three enumerated powers are:
Provide for a common defense.
Provide a unified foreign policy.
Provide a common currency.

If you can find anything else the federal government does better than local jurisdictions I am happy to learn.
