I'm not going to worry about the moment of soul formation until we've actually identified and quantified the soul. I'm not sure there is one, but if there is, I'm pretty sure dogs have them too. If dogs have them, then probably most or all animals do. Come to think of it, I've known some pretty "soulful" trees...
