At this point the Administration should not let Ms. Miers go as far as the hearings. The questions raised already, the misstatements, the lack of record...how does she dig out the hole? And it won't be the democrats whacking her, it will be the republicans. She won't even see the blades. The "principled conservatives" (love that term, since I guess it excludes Mr Bush) are planning on how to get the nominee they want...they won't be kind to Ms. Miers. I now think she will realize just how humiliating it will be to be scoured by her own party and will withdraw.
