In real life, there have been and are governments which call themselves communist and base themselves at least partially on communist principles. The "dictatorship of the proletariat" term was coined by communists to explain why communist governments were inevitably dictatorial regimes.

This is well known by everyone. But many liberals today have a soft spot in their hearts for the communist noble "idea" and cling to mythology that it never worked because it never was truly tried.

Having to deny obvious realities says a lot about you.
