Judy et all,

year to date performance on drillers (certainly beat some techs, asnd csco included) from 12/31/96 to 09/09/97, of course some of them added another 10% just in last few days.

>>>BIGJET, your analyses are usually right on. ESV has had a different pattern of increase than the other drillers. What advantages does it have over the other drillers you have touted and what's going to happen here that makes it important to buy it now? <<<

They are all going up. Thus it is easy to pick winners. As I stated I own 11. Added significantly to ESV in last July as I though they were more undervalued than some at that point in time. Note below that deepwater jackup players (ESV, RDC, GLM, SDC & NE) are almost idential for year (39-40%). Trying to pick which one will do better that the other is what we call in Texas "P------ in the wind." They will all do excellent. I own all of above 5 except RDC and like RDC too. Reason to buy ESV or any of the others now (in my opinion) is the quarterly afftect is upon us--i.e. have seen big runups each quarter for the last 8 between about 2 weeks before end of quarter and about 2-3 weeks after end of quarter upon earnings announcements. Thus if history repeats, Sept. 15-Oct.18 should be good.
