Flu prevention, from Flutest.com:

PRESCRIPTION

Despite the common misconception that nothing can be done for flu, there are several prescription medications approved for the treatment of influenza. Drugs used to treat only influenza type A have been approved since 1976, and drugs which are effective against both type A or B have been approved for treatment since 1999.1

With the wide availability of the patented QuickVue® Influenza test by Quidel, more doctors can now prescribe antivirals, with confidence, for their patients.

Four antiviral drugs have been approved for treatment of the flu. All of these must be prescribed by a doctor. Antiviral treatment lasts for five days and must be started within the first two days of illness.

amantadine
rimantadine
zanamavir (Relenza®)
oseltamivir (Tamiflu®)

NON-PRESCRIPTION
While there are plenty of over-the-counter medications to help ease the symptoms of flu, there are some general steps to take when sick:

Get plenty of rest
Drink a lot of liquids (especially water)
Avoid using alcohol and tobacco
Consider taking over-the-counter medications to relieve your flu symptoms (but always read the label to make sure the medication is appropriate for you and never give aspirin to children or teenagers who have flu-like symptoms.
Stay home and avoid contact with other people – not only do you need rest, but you can help prevent the spread of flu by avoiding contact with others.
Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and wash your hands frequently with soap to further protect others from your germs.
