The whole democratic party suspended accountability after 9/11. That was a mistake. It's hard to explain nuance to the public, but its even harder if distortion after distortion goes unchallanged until there is a whole mountain of nuance to explain at once. This problem doesn't belong at Kerry's feet alone, but it is a problem of the Democratic leadership and Kerry has asked to be in that role.
