I am indeed taking it in to consideration. I don't believe that the constitution is whatever the supreme court says it is.

Also I don't consider this situation to be school sponsorship, anymore than it is government sponsorship of, or establishment of religion any time a politician mentions God in a speech or prays in public.

And the use of separation of church and state as a weapon certainly isn't confined to the non-religious.

That is certainly true.

It's very hard to stay on a level, reasonable path when extremists from either side are dragging down the tolerant and rational.

That is often true as well. Extremists on one side provoke the other who then return the favor. And at times the provocation leads not to (or not just to) a defensive reaction, but to a counter offensive. Each side seeking to use the courts, the school district, or other government institutions, to impose their will.
