Two children die from carbon monoxide poisoning Video According to the Sheriff’s Department, brother and sister, five-year-old Jawonn West and one- year-old Eiyana Washington and an unnamed 10-year-old sibling were riding in the back of their parents camper shell covered truck from Mojave to Lerdo Jail Sunday morning. When the group arrived at the jail, after an hour, the parents realized the three children riding in the back of the truck were unresponsive and called for help. Detention officers at the jail performed CPR on the children before emergency teams arrived on scene. The two youngest children were taken to the Bakersfield Heart Hospital where they were pronounced dead. The 10-year-old was resuscitated and taken to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera where he remains in serious but stable condition. According to Chip Robinson, Vice President of Operations at the Bakersfield Heart Hospital, the boy will undergo treatment in the hyperbaric chamber to re-oxygenate his blood.
