Kerry did not trust Bush. But Pat Roberts on the Intel Committee in the Senate was giving Kerry and others the same doctored intel Powell showed the UN. In other words, fabrications.

That is exactly how they played him.
Do you remember the talking point repeated over and over was that you have to go along with administration because they have access to information that you don't know. I know I was dismissed with that statement many times. The administration played not only Kerry, but Hillary, a the other senators by giving them documents that were supposedly secret but were in fact, as you said, fabrications.

They bought into the flattery that they knew something that nobody else knew to the point that they overlooked the obvious information that was all about. It looks like they even pulled the same trick on Judith Miller and Bob Woodward. They made them think they had the inside scoop and so they should disregard their lyin' eyes.
