Why in the world would you have April tell Saddam that the US of A, his sponsor, would not get involved if he invaded Kuwait?

He had tanks on the border and she addressed that. They knew, or should have known, that the ruinous US sponsored war against Iran had depleted the treasury and that Saddam, rightly or wrongly, blamed Kuwait for this, that and the other thing.

The West really needs to get the heck out of meddling in the ME. It meddles badly, creates all kinds of misery and, even after all this time, doesn't understand the region AT ALL.

Whether it was a blunder, or a bizarre misunderstanding of Saddam's intentions, it still points to the main problem of the USA's involvement in the area which is, THE USA'S INVOLVEMENT IN THE AREA.
