Chanced upon your post searching for info on biodiesel.

It's now being sold in the US as fuel for oil furnaces -- which you don't need in Brazil, obviously, but we do here in the colder parts of the US.

I am investigating getting some for my house, so far the closest dealer I've located is too far. They use a soy product. (Scroll down.)

One benefit is that it burns much cleaner than ordinary heating oil, which is dirty. This means you can use a much more efficient furnace, like the ones by Adams, which are 95% efficient, and the exhaust gas is so cool you can vent through a PVC pipe!

I have conflicting stories as to whether you can burn ordinary, high sulfur heating oil in an Adams furnace, so am researching that. The old ones used to clog but they were redesigned in 2003 and supposedly don't clog anymore. I don't like the dirtier oil so am also trying to find a local source for the low sulfur stuff if I can't get biodiesel.

I would love to burn biodiesel -- think I will buy a used diesel car just to play with, and try either making it myself or maybe find a way to get a load put in my fuel oil tank, and a little pump to remove some for the diesel car when I need it. It can't be terribly dangerous to mess with.
