It is looking more and more like GWB picked the wrong battle in nominating Miers. Waiting for the hearings before deciding what I thought of her potential as a Justice initially seemed appropriate. However, since perception is about the only thing that counts with many senators and the media her task is straight uphill. That causes me to suspect that the committee will be very critical of her in the hearings which might not even give us a clear picture of her skills in answering and deflecting questions. Yet, it is unlikely that the Senate will push her too hard since the 'PC camera' will be watching them.

If Bush is forced to offer a second candidate, I hope it is Brown from California.
