During the TI CC, they stated that the merchant WCDMA chipset that they are developing with NTT Docomo will be sampling before the end of the year. There agreement with Docomo allows them to sell this to any other operator in the world (I assume that Docomo is going to get a license fee). Production volumes will ramp in '06.

TI has thus far been shut out of the merchant chipset market. They have really only participated through EMP and Nokia, but this is going to introduce new competition. The chipset is supposed to be a WCDMA/GSM/GPRS baseband integrated with a OMAP2 applications processor. This should be on par with Qualcomm's MSM7xxx series in terms of applications support. OTOH, they dont have EDGE or HSDPA support in the device (at least in the specs listed from over a year ago).
