Kerry did not back the war. Voting for war powers to frisk Saddam and enforce inspections is not the same as voting to invade, especially without a post-invasion plan and without adequate allies.

You sound like a Bush-Cheney 2004 spinmeister.

And yes, of course Kerry had to come off as tough. Which he is. If he had been an anti-war dove he would have lost by a landslide.

Maybe a dove could win right now, but remember, even Nixon won by a landslide in 1972 after the public was against the Vietnam War.
