I think one of the things we will learn from the Q3 CC is about the shutdown of Charlottes Web…

The pretty good plan???

The completion of MRV’s new suite of Metro Ethernet products with the

OSM6500 – a 10GE Chassis Solution with advanced service modules

Available in the 6502 and 6508 models…
This is what the old CW gang of engineers has been doing.. building a metro ethernet suite of products which MRV didn't really have before...

So MRV Metro Ethernet looks like,

CPE -- OSM207 OSM105 OS200/OS400 OESD 802.3AH OA2000 MR2228 (and other DaVinci switches)

At the Enterprise level, Fiber Aggregation and service aware connectivity from the OS9000

And at the Provider Edge/Core, the OSM6508…

Other leaves blowing in the wind….
"BellSouth has a million lines of fiber to the curb in place, which they intend to bring to 50 meg and might begin in 2006. The old Marconi equipment, now serviced by AFC/Tellabs, can be upgraded as soon as the CFO agrees to spend the money. "

TeliaSonera is now doing IPTV/VOD and Broadband Digital TV in major cities thorughout Sweden.. Hmmmmmmm Wonder who built that network??? No wonder MRV had a big quarter in Q04....

and.....

Lets’ assume any ALA win in the triple-play FTTP / FTTN market is a MRVC win.

Q2 CC
Currently, we see three dominant players in FTTP -- Tellabs, Motorola and Alcatel. All three are among our top five customers. They supply nearly 100% of the FTTP and FTTN systems to the top three US RBOCs: Verizon, SBC and Bellsouth. In each case, we are the largest supplier of key fiber optical components in the home ONT, or optical network terminal.

Specifically in this quarter, we came to a multiyear agreement with Alcatel for the supply of both BPON and GPON optical transceivers for OLT and ONT equipment. This agreement includes a multiyear pricing strategy built around a long-term partnership. We see high-speed GPON or 2.5 gigabit downstream and 1.25-gigabit upstream fiber to the home as the future of residential access networking and view Alcatel as a leading supplier of this technology.

Cantv chooses Alcatel for national Ethernet Metro service

Venezuela's largest telecom company, Cantv (NYSE: VNT), has chosen French telecoms equipment and solutions vendor Alcatel (NYSE: ALA) to implement a national Ethernet Metro network, Alcatel said in a statement.

The Alcatel solution will consist of 14 rings to be set up in five cities, allowing Cantv to introduce IP and Ethernet services such as Virtual Private Networks.

The network will also serve as the basis of Cantv's next-generation service aggregation and will provide the infrastructure for its launch of triple play services, including VoIP, high-speed internet access and low-demand TV re-broadcasting.

Additionally, the Alcatel network will allow Cantv to extend its broadband services, the statement said.

The network is set to be deployed by November this year, Alcatel added.

As of 2004, Cantv had 3.2 million lines, 4 million mobile subscribers and 500,000 internet customers.
