But it would have been a whole lot smarter to answer that he would have concentrated resources in Afghanistan instead. Look at the context : (a) OBL was (and is) still running around and (b) no WMDs were found in Iraq. It was a no-brainer.

And if that made him unpopular with someone, it's because that someone had decided not to vote for Kerry anyway.
