I find this interesting because as you may know or not I've struggled with lyme disease--and it turns out, probably the confounding factor I only recently found out about, is that I got babesia that day I got a tickbite 5 years ago, and that has never been treated so I will have to do that, not looking forward to the process tho and probably wait until I'm finished with my current project--altho finding out is ultimatley a good and hopeful thing. Apparently that area of Connecticut is rampant with both, and 10% of ticks in coastal connecticut do transmit both. But in any case, lyme screws up TLR 2 and TLR 4. I'm not sure if they know if/what babesia might do to TLR's. Apparently these TLR's got their name from the researcher who discovered them, a german, who was so excited she shouted out, "TOLL!" as in , "FANTASTIC". Or that's the legend. Others think they got their name from being like tollbooths.
