Mea Culpa...I forgot Cheney's account...in the last throes.

How come after 2 and a half years there isn't an Iraqi Army in place? We take grunts and turn them into soldiers in 16 weeks. In Iraq, the supposed readiness factor has dropped by two thirds over the last year...that's 52 weeks!

This is the one measure of the effectiveness of this war that cannot be swept under the rug. It's the most meaningfull one to Americans too, because Bush says we can't leave until the Iraqis can take control. Well when in the hell will that be? At the current rate of increase (actually a decrease) in readiness...it will be when hell freezes over.

Since Insurgent attacks are increasing and the Iraqi Army is decreasing, I think that Cheney mis-spoke...he must have meant the Iraqi Army is in it's last throes.
