Doing nothing would have been hugely more positive than the last 5 years of Bush. But you are right, it doesn't work from a political marketing perspective.

Some of our best Presidents accomplished really mundane stuff... Eisenhower and the Interstate system are an example. The guys that want to change the world are the ones to watch out for... and the Neo's (and many other "super power" leaders that wanted to dominate the world) are the models for the decline of a society.

It's interesting that, at least on this thread, Ten (second generation American?), Taro (non-American) and Elroy (lived 1/2 his life in other countries) are the big supporters of the war.

Maybe those of us that are more generational "invested" in this country have a more critical and analytical perspective. We've got a deeper understanding of what America is all about, what we have to lose, and what it took to get where we are. Just a thought.
