Well, I'm glad I followed through with what I intended to do when I mentioned that I would get out of LUCENT a few days before earnings were announced. My goal was to see LUCENT reach $3.21 but that didn't happen. I got out on Monday at the closing price that day of $3.16.

Based on what happened after LUCENT closed at $3.43 on 10/4/05 while I was on vacation and missed that whole week of action, I just went by my gut feeling and kept watching and this past Monday I made the decision to make the changes in my 401K. I'm now out of LUCENT in my 401K and only hold 80 shares privately.

I'll probably save those 80 shares for my kids. It would cost too much to sell them.

All the pundits are giving their opinions this morning on what will happen to LUCENT in the future. Will it even survive? Will it be swallowed up by another company? I've had it.

I personally hope it will survive because that's where I'm getting my pension from. I'd hate to see it go bankrupt and then have to get my pension from the Pension Guarantee outfit.

Look at the news concerning GM today! ... I guess it makes me think of the lyrics to an old song ... IT COULD HAPPEN TO YOU ... a song from way back in 1944, written by Johnny Burke (w) and Jimmy Van Heusen (m) for the motion picture "And the Angels Sing" with best selling recordings by both Bing Crosby and Jo Stafford (her's is my favorite) ... Kitty Kallen singin' with Harry James' trumpet in the background also had a nice version of the tune ... ANON
