One of my closest associates is someone I met here on SI back in 1999. This person has compelled me to change my mind on a huge number of things. He did it by forcing me to look at data objectively without prejudice and preconception. Something I've been trying to get you to do. When you start to do this you find that an enormous number of things that you have accepted as fact, things that are repeated here on SI and elsewhere aren't supported by real evidence, but are myths passed on from person to person without anyone who repeats these myths actually checking to see if they are true.

Consider your belief that Prop 13 has made house prices rise. If you were given two identical houses, one with a higher tax.....would you not demand that the one with a higher tax be sold to you at a discount to the other, in order to account for the higher future cost of the taxes?
