I believe that Quartering of troops in civilians homes was a major cause of the Revolutionary War. It was listed as one of the Intolerable Acts though I've never seen any historical comments on the frequency in which the Quartering Act it was exercised. Remembering that the Quebec Act was listed as an Intolerable Act which had nothing to do with the 13 colonies, set the boundaries for Quebec and gave Roman Catholics religious freedom ... I think it's a fair question whether the Quartering Act really was that onerous in practice. jttmab
