Discovery may pursue a strategy of partnering with competing programmers to share 3 to 6 MHz of HDTV spectrum during the next 5-7 years, Discovery chmn/CEO John Hendricks tells CableFAX. Since no basic cable net will begin broadcasting HDTV feeds full-time in the near future, it makes sense for the top 20 cable nets to share an HDTV channel "if it's more economical," he says.
