excite@home and inktomi are just the marquis buildings in my area that are empty. Try driving around the back of the excite@home corridor, this is industrial blvd which is the entry to those buildings on 101 like Nektar that are occupied... when you go back there , there are about a million OTHER empty bldgs you can't see from the freeway. It goes on and on. The last time I was there the only occupied one had support.com. That company has maybe 100 employees tops! Figure we're overbuild in terms of offices for another 10 years here, but otoh I remember when I was at Berkeley in the 80s, I came down to interview for a college job and that entire North First st area had see through bldgs after see through bldgs and I wondered then what would ever cause any of those to fill up (I think they were built during the PC bubble period in 83/84). Well 2 years later cisco went in and that was that.

Google is hiring like mad and thats going to take up all of mtn view. we don't have anything up here though, nada, in terms of new growing companies. Salesforce.com is doing well, they are in SF thoug.

As for rentals $$2250 for a 4 br? Man thats cheap. Here we have 3brs for $1800 a lot. But many of those have one bath because the houses are so old up here. I figure 2 years from now is when you should look to buy, no? Prices will have fallen by then for sure. Right now the sellers are still in a little shock it seems like.
