Expert: China's Bird Flu Vaccine Research At Forefront of World 2005-10-30 8:42:37 CRIENGLISH.com An expert on bird flu vaccine research says that after over a decade of study, China's research and development in relation to vaccine has reached a stage that puts it amongst the world’s best. Chen Hualan is the director of the China National Bird Flu Reference Laboratory. "After the vaccines we developed were put into use on poultry, during the period of immunity we found that the immunized fowls did not get transmitted, even if a great deal of the virus was introduced." To date China has developed four separate vaccines against bird flu, with three already on the market. Chen Hualan says the latest vaccine includes several technological innovations, and is equal to the world’s best in terms of high technology.
