Elroy, Re: "Bernanke" I have been hearing for years, even before Bush that Bernanke was likely to follow Greenspan. He does seem to be really close to Bush, though. Just another neocon, I suppose. Iraq to me is a sort of puzzle as there are so many interests involved. Maybe there is some crony capitalism involved (Haliburton ect.) but then there is the Israeli lobby that wants us with a strong permanent military presence there nearby to Israel. Even Democrats like Lieberman have to be pleased, dispite any complaning. And there is the idea of displacing the Chicoms before they get a strong foothold there. You know, China is one place with very little Zionist penetration as far as I know and so on that count alone the Israeli lobby may have an another reason to desire the USA to be in Iraq and maybe Iran too. And Bernanke is surely one of their number so he may desire to create an environment were endless warfare or occupation is possible. Slagle
