This thread is as interesting as ever. Having got up to speed it appears that the discussion has followed an understandable path. Only Lalit and ole 49r chose to shoot without asking questions, and I thank all of you that were level in response. I'd be surprised if Diane Francis contacted ole 49r but if she (ole 49r that is) says so, I have no knowledge of the situation so Ole 49r gets the benefit of the doubt. As far as I know, Diane Francis relied on ten different researchers for different aspects of her book. Unbeknownst to me there was at least one researcher (and based on an interview she gave on Pamela Wallin, I think, in fact, there were two) looking into the internet coverage. And that wasn't me. Off-line I've prepared an historical summary from public record materials of the activities of the Bre-X companies and key principals such as David Walsh. And having done that I can say that people who claim Walsh is a hero or a victim raise major suspicions in my mind. Such a stance flies in the face of the public record. I can understand his own brother touting him in this way, but public investors??!!! Anyway, the Bre-X research I've recently completed has been made available to Diane Francis and I trust will be made available to the appropriate authorities and investigators and those who are seeking justice in this swindle. This work is unrelated to any of my public activities or my on-line web-site and discussion group conversations. I'm not in a position to talk about what I've learned in other areas until I see what use is being made by Diane Francis and other parties to help inform the public and to get to the bottom of the rotten barrel that is the Bre-X group. What I was doing here raising issues was of my own accord asking about mikesloan etc. and showed up on the radar of other investigators at which point enquries were made of me and other sources as to the sloan/Walsh activities on-line. As things turned out, contrary to how Lalit and ole 49r have mischaracterized my postings here, Diane Francis rather than directing my activities was concerned that my outrage at the Walsh disinformation campaign and joining with others here to "out" the brother of the Bre-X chief could jeopardize her own efforts to track Walsh and other pseudonynomous posters on-line. She already had hackers working on things and once sloan/Walsh was outed here, in effect once he was "run to ground", he stopped posting. In a way, I was like a person who inadvertantly steps into an undercover operation and threatens to scare away the subject of investigation. When people told me who mikesloan was (and ole 49r of course refused to directly answer whether or not Merrick had revealed his identity to him), then it just highlighted the seriousness of the sloan/drumbeat/Walsh disinformation campaign. There's much more to follow, and I'm hopeful that over time, those responsible for this crime will be collared -- in one way or another.
