I could easily imagine Wilson being the next indictment, even if I don't think he will be. His wife reportedly stated prior to his trip that the notion that Iraq sought yellow cake uranium was crazy. During his trip he was told of the meeting between Iraq in Niger from '99 by the former Prime minister, and that the Prime Minister believed Iraq sought yellow cake uranium, which confirmed the earlier British intelligence. He explained to the press that he knew the documents were forged because the names and dates were wrong, yet later when it was established that he couldn't have known the names and dates since he couldn't have seen the documents, he responded saying that he may have "mispoken" to the press.

He acknowledges his wife "sent a memo to a deputy chief in the CIA's Directorate of Operations saying her husband "has good relations with both the PM [prime minister] and the former Minister of Mines (not to mention lots of French contacts), both of whom could possibly shed light on this sort of activity." Wilsons response?: "I don't see it as a recommendation to send me."

But the Senate report further says "The next day (after she sent her memo), the operations official cabled an overseas officer seeking concurrence with the idea of sending Wilson."
