The FT reports that JC Flowers has not abandoned its pursuit of a deal to acquire assets of Refco (RFXCQ.PK), and remains among a group of bidders preparing to participate in the auction for the stricken US brokerage that will begin this week. The private equity group owned by Christopher Flowers withdrew an offer to acquire Refco's regulated futures business for $768m last week after a US bankruptcy judge imposed a sharp reduction in the deal's "break-up fee". But in the past week, Mr Flowers' group has continued to study Refco's financial information and requested meetings with the co's advisers. JC Flowers is expected to present an offer when bids are due on Fri.
