Morning John,

Saw the article you mention. Also read the Dell Ireland is laying off 60 workers. Not many compared to the new jobs created elsewhere. First Albany lowered estimates in story below. I'm getting a feeling that things are not going to well...that the conference call will try to be as uplifting as possible but most with see through the grandeur, and then we'll look back at the most recent sell off and suspect whether word got out to institutions early about the quarter. I remember back yonder other sell offs despite market rises a bit before earnings, with no support statement from the company, followed by a pre-release miss or just a miss. I hope my feeling is just paranoia.....still long a bunch of unhedged shares.

cheers,
gary

Dell "buy," target price reduced

Monday, October 31, 2005 7:35:15 AM ET
First Albany

NEW YORK, October 31 (newratings.com) - Analysts at First Albany maintain their "buy" rating on Dell Inc (DELL.NAS), while reducing their estimates for the company. The 12-month target price has been reduced from $46 to $41.

In a research note published this morning, the analysts mention that the company is scheduled to report its 3Q06 results on November 10. Dell is likely to have witnessed a y/y decline in the revenue growth of the Mobility segment on account of ASP erosion and moderating market share gains, the analysts say. The EPS estimates for FY06 and FY07 have been reduced from $1.59 to $1.58 and from $1.89 to $1.88, respectively.
