[the war against drugs was lost from the very start. It's a waste of resources and ruins lives of otherwise honest folk.]

America has some of the highest rates of drug use in the entire world... by no means can anyone claim that our current prohibition policies are succeeding at their goals. (All they are succeeding at is ENABLING, providing the supports for, a massive, ever-larger federal government.)

When one finds himself at the bottom of a hole, the first thing to try is to STOP DIGGING.

"Many habitual criminals are jailed for drug crimes. If not for drugs being illegal, they would be incarcerated for other crimes."

Fine by me --- incarcerate criminals for *real* crimes... crimes of violence, crimes against property, etc.

With all the money saved from not prosecuting users who harm no one but (possibly) themselves, we ought to be able to put more cops on the streets, save money by building fewer prisons, etc.

All kinds of crimes should fall.

American has one of the top incarceration rates in the entire WORLD. (Only one or two Totalitarian states have higher rates.)

Do you *think* that Americans are inherently MORE EVIL then other people in the world? (Hint: I sure DON'T!) Or, do you maybe concede that our government is trying too hard to be 'Big Daddy', and that maybe we have some unnecessary or useless laws that should be changed?
