"our country wants to keep the liar and throw out the decent person."

I am on record as saying that Libby looks to have been set up. Fitzgerald has earned the reputation as bind an aggressive prosecutor. Ashcroft recused himself and his assistant gave the Chicago politico carte blanche.

My ethics have not blown with the wind. After Clinton was convicted of lying under oath, I stated that as the top law enforcement officer he had disqualified himself for office. He should have either resigned or the Senate should have voted to impeach him. In Lewis Libby's case he may have felt he could not do his job properly while fighting the inquisition. He should not have resigned or been asked to resign. After he is acquitted, the whole ordeal will look rather ridiculous.

If in the outside chance he is ruled against, then he should have had to resign. Did Al Gore resign when he was found to have taken illegal campaign contributions purportedly from Buddhist monks who had taken a vow of poverty? Did he resign when he was caught illegally using government phones for campaign solicitations? There is a double standard in which Democrats are forgiven all crimes and Republicans are pilloried before they have their day in court.
