Japan and Germany were devastated. They were occupied for years, and their will to fight was gone. There was NO significant resistance in either country- did you know that not one soldier was attacked by Japanese during the occupation? And I believe there were only 40 attacks on troops by Germans. I looked it up, and the difference between WWII and Iraq is just amazing. I don't know if you know just how devastated Japan and Germany were, and how many Japanese and Germans died- but look it up, it will give you pause.

Maybe we could "rebuild" Iraq if we were willing to "pacify" it the way we pacified Japan and Germany, but since Germany and Japan were aggressors, and Iraq wasn't, I'm not sure the world would stand for the pacification program. Know what I mean?
