COREL'S COWPLAND SEES SURGE IN 4Q SALE

Sees 'Very Strong' 4Q

OTTAWA (Dow Jones)-- Michael Cowpland, president and chief
executive of Corel Corp. (COSFF), said the company expects to report
a "very strong" fiscal fourth quarter with a "good surge in sales."

Cowpland made the comments to reporters. Corel reported earlier
Wednesday that it expects to record a net loss of US$32 million in the fiscal third quarter ended Aug. 31.

Cowpland said the expected third-quarter loss largely reflected a change in "accounting emphasis."

He also said the company expect to make "some very exciting"
corporate announcements in the fourth quarter. He declined to say
whether Corel will return to profitability in the quarter ending Nov. 30.
