What I'm objecting to is the unnecessary terrorization of the population. The latest Harper's has an article that cuts to this point. In 1940-41, when the Germans killed 40,000 Londoners by bomb, the city never shut down. But the recent bombing that killed 56 shut the city down for a day, and two weeks later an attempted bombing that killed no one also shut it down. And the estimates at the time were that there were 150,000 Nazi sympathizers living in Britain. -- Carl
