Not a doom and gloomer, but watched SGI fall from market darling to a delisted chump play, and all under the watchful eye of one person.

Anyone remember way back when Captain Bob said that SGI's future depended on the new Intel-bsaed 320/540 workstations?

Anyone remember when SGI bought Cray for a ridiculous sum only to sell it for nothing?

Anyone remember when SGI still owned their own buildings which were sold to Google?

Anyone remember when SGI actually owned some intellectual property?

Anyone know why SGI insiders had to leave to start nVidia instead of reinventing SGI as the premiere graphics technology company for the PC?

Anyone realize that SGI is now pinning its future on razor-thin margin Linux servers, and reselling other people's products (like all their storage hardware)?

So with a list of gaffes, missteps, and just plain stupid decisions as long as an Octopus' tentacle, why hasn't Captain Bob either fallen on his own sword or been shown the door by the overseeing BOD? Is there anyone out there who could have conceivably done worse?
