re: Those folks in the Middle East are forever going to have problems until they grow up and decide that it's ok for others to believe in whatever religion they want to, and that religion is only a good thing if it includes as its foundation life, liberty, and respect for other people, regardless of their religion. Any religion that focuses on death and is intolerant of others is more of a divisive and destructive cult, not a religion.

I've never commented on the Palestine/Israel thing, because frankly I don't get it. It's one of those things that is so complicated, that I think that unless you are a direct part of it... you will never understand the emotions on either side. So I abstain, I don't think I'm qualified to have a legitimate opinion, one that adds to the discussion.

Most of your post is pretty good. But in the end, you are taking a side. And you probably don't have any more legitimacy than I do... you are just projecting your own prejudice.

It would be great if the US and UN and the other players could be honest brokers, and work to end the violence. There is always a compromise, somewhere... it's time that everybody worked towards that, instead of promoting one side or the other.
