Hello Maurice,
I'm guessing the situation is that for the most part he can write anything he likes. Like me he doesn't favour the Fa Lun Gung. Like me he hopes that Taiwan will peacefully resume its role as a province of China. Unlike me he believes that democracy will surely come to China some day, peacefully and gradually. I would like to believe that but wishes are not convictions.
I was upset with you because I did not understand the above.
I couldn't see why you wanted frank statements.
Maybe no very poor country is democratic. India is widely cited as such but if we were untouchables, unprotected by the police against thugs etc., would we think it is a democracy? I have talked with Moslems who grew up in India and were strongly discriminated against there. They felt liberated on leaving India. I would feel safe in India but that's because I"m neither Moslem nor untouchable.
