In practice H1-Bs almost never complain, first because they want to stay here where wages are much higher.

The majority also come from countries where complaining to the government is very unwise, and they bring that spirit with them.

Many have paid a lot to agents to bring them over, and have to pay a lot more if they break with them - the courts have upheld such contracts.

They are actually worse off than some of the indentured servants were, for they are often unable to stay in the U.S. at the end of their terms - the corporations may prefer them to return home where they can be hired for the low local wages [plus a bonus for their valuable American experience.]
