One of the substantial hidden costs of the war on terrorism is that some of the elite in other countries are staying home rather than coming to the US to get their education or start their career.

Yes, that concerns me. Until and unless we find a way to turn around the anti-intellectualism that hinders the development of so many our our own young people, we will need the imports. Hopefully we can do that before the tide turns and their own home countries are more attractive to them.
