Just heard from a friend that works in Ascend. He is at a Director level in Sales ( no names to protect the innocent ). Apparently Ascend will report FLAT earnings at best. I do not hold any positions in Ascend, and have never participated on the Ascend board...but I hope this info helps. He mentioned that the internal mood is neutral. His crystal ball is that Ascend will unfortunately drop further, especially when they "officially" confirm their flat earnings. The reasons he cites a flat sales report is: - Competition, European Sales, and remarks.."our stuff is quickly becoming a commodity. Customers are the drivers, too many options for them (from other companies) to choose from" Also, he mentioned that the reason why the analyst are giving negative recommendations is because they DO KNOW already....the whisper numbers. By Ascend taking the hit now....it'll be easier when the news do come out. O well, my two cents. Please do not treat this as gospel. However, this is what a reliable person told me. IMHO, the sales dept. has the major pulse in any company - they should know. -
