all the while squandering U.S. military assets on minor skirmishes around the world which had little or nothing to do with U.S. national security and had not a thing to do with anti-U.S. terrorism-

You do realize that 90% of the people reading this thread will assume you are talking about the current administration with this comment, right?

You know, one very interesting thing happened to me in this Iraq brouhaha... maybe some others will find this interesting.

All my life I never knew where the animosity towards the troops who fought in Vietnam came from. I think we as a nation have a sense of shame about how we treated our vietnam veterans. Well here comes Iraq and I can safely say I now KNOW where the animosity towards the troops in Vietnam came from, because I feel it for Iraq. Shame on anybody who sent their kid to Iraq to fight for "the cause"... and shame on the chicken hawks who hide behind this bogus "support our troops" mantra for this fiasco that has killed over 50K innocent people FOR NOTHING.

Women, half the country of Iraq were much better off with Saddam Hussein than now, the world was safer with Saddam Hussein and the fact that we as a nation can't admit the mistake we have made (or, more accurately the mistake that GEORGE BUSH and his NEOCON cronies made, singlehandedly) is causing more death by the day. And it is the military families and troops themselves who are part of the problem (just like vietnam) acting like anybody who questions this war is unpatriotic or unsympathetic when nothing could be further from the truth.

BTW if Clinton started a war that ended up killing 50K people for nothing I would say the same about him.
