What planet lefty are you living on? Because as an actual liberal, I don't know ANYONE who idolizes Castro anymore. I met ONE person, at Berkeley, in the 80's, who admired Castro, and you say it like all the left loves Castro.

Brumar, et al, don't really care whether what they say is accurate or even a whether it's a gross exaggeration. They don't care. Brumar is going to repeat "Castro is still idolized by the left" for the rest of his life.

They will make up accusations, quotes, whatever they think is necessary for the cause. They don't care what the reason was to invade Iraq and they never will. They don't care whether it was a lie. It doesn't matter to them.

It's "The end justifies the means" in it's purest form. Without any moral compass.

The dilemma: What is a counter strategy in a democracy against a group that operates under "The end justifies the means"?
