Not surprisingly, technology stocks are well represented on the list. Among the more promising entries are Maxim Integrated Products (No. 48), an innovative semiconductor maker; McAfee; and networking powerhouse 3Com (No. 95). The ordinarily sleepy energy industry makes a strong showing. Sixteen oil and gas companies, including Global Marine and fast comers EVI (No. 4) and Cliffs Drilling (No. 18), highlight a sector that's currently profiting from an increasing global demand for fossil fuels.
