100cfm, Re: FY06 Guidance and “. it's great to spend on R&D but when do the revenues kick in. If R&D spending continues to outpace revenue growth I have to wonder about the worthiness of the projects they are working on.” <<<<<<<<<

I was also surprised to hear early on and several mentions later of continuing “aggressive” R&D increases. Indications late last FY from my recall were R&D “leveling-off”.

The Q is deeply involved in many leading-edge / world changing technologies and must feel compelled “not to drop the ball” at this time (‘Opportunity Calls”). Some of these are on the cusp of commercialization - HSDPA, DorA, OFDM, FLO, Iridigm Displays (MEMS) , and maintaining leadership in these areas is of prime importance.

I believe Bill Keitel stated R&D + SG&A will increase 22% , in line or slightly below the increase in EPS guidance. With the Q’s CY WCDMA handset guidance at 86M vs some industry analysts/ consultants forecasting 100M and more, hopefully there is a good chance that EPS guidance will increase as we move thru the year.
