This statement was made after the documents were known to be forgeries. Wilson never claimed that he had seen them during his trip. This is the timing part that you seem to refuse to understand. It is a quote taken out of context and poorly presented by a third party. Republicans want to take this statement and use it as proof that Wilson lied. But in his own piece he is very clear about when he saw the forgeries and that they had nothing to do with the reasons he reported there was no evidence of a yellow cake sale.
