Bush is now the most unpopular president since The Great Depression. Clinton was the most popular, even after the Monica scandal, leaving office with a stunning 65% approval rating. Bush's is currently 35%.

Carter may have dipped lower at the depths of the oil and hostage crisis, but if his rescue mission had succeeded he would have soared in popularity. So basically a sandstorm ruined his ratings, not doing anything wrong. Just unlucky. Also Reagan's Iran-Contra group stopped the Iranian hostages from being released prior to the election with promises of massive arms sales to the Iranians under Reagan, which the Iranians did receive.

Carter I'm sure is the most admired ex-president, a very honest man and a real Christian, as opposed to the phony extremist evangelicals posing as the leaders of the Christian church.
